Abstract

USB has recently become one of the most popular types of communication for devices ranging from consumer products, to industrial robotics and test equipment. The protocol relies heavily on constant contact with devices for error checking which makes it a bit cumbersome, but the end result is stability and high through-put speeds that operating systems love. The main purpose of this projects it to develop a low cost USB device using USB application firmware. The device can detect by Windows as Human Interface Device (HID) device and it able to interface with Windows GUI. The heard of this device is a low price PICI 8F4550 microcontroller. The device has an ability to send and receive commands from the USB Host of the PC and perform tasks base on the command. For example the GUI able to toggle some LEDs ON and OFF, recognize when a switch is. Going into more advances, it able to control various devices like stepper motor, servo motor, relay switch and ability alternately control an industry machine.
