Abstract

The whole procedure of the machine is very simple basically to wait for the right time to feed the pet daily and every time it feeds it will only few the bowl to a certain amount of mass then stops. This would mean that the machine will consist of an internal timer and internal clock as accurate as our 24 hours clock, a weight sensor or in this case a strain gauge to trigger the stopping of the food when the mass of the food in the bowl reaches a certain amount. There will be indicators to indicate the amount of food in the machine rather if it's low and if the bowl is empty. This is basically to prom the user to refill the machine with more food or if the pet is not eating. This part requires sensors and the sensor I'll be using is infrared because after the machine is filled with food and closed the food inside the machine is not visible this is to protect the food form getting spoiled by sunlight. the time is set for the machine to feed the pet which means there will be a need to interact with the machine, for this we use an LCD screen and push buttons to allow settings and display of the program information. Besides the timing of feeding the machine should also know the amount in which the user would like to feed and this also requires interaction between the user and machine. Using LED voltage meter and an amplifier to boost the voltage high enough to be read from the strain gauge to give a digital signal to the PIC. A prototype is build good enough to work as it is descried, however keep in mind that the material is not as strong as the ideal machine and that there are still room to improve due to the time and money capital constrain.
