Abstract

A solatube was developed to enhancement on technology of solar tube, which the devices is design to reduce usage of the electricity to produce light by receiving the natural light source from the living environment (sunlight) and transmitted the light beam down a tube with a highly reflective interior coating, to an attractive lens cover that resembles conventional recessed lighting fixtures and diffuses the sunlight evenly throughout dim interior rooms. This project is conducted from two major parts which is Mechanical and Electrical part. According mechanical part have involved plenty information about the reflectivity of the materials, theory of light reflection, reduce the losses of the brightness and design some practically installation methods. Furthermore, a practical prototype of solatube was developed with involve extra feature. On the other hand, in the electrical part have done on the technology of converting energy (light energy to electricity energy) and store the unused energy for further purpose. Thus the renewable energy won't be wasted when the devise is not in use. Furthermore, this project had done with the autolight system when environment brightness comes dim. There are several type of experiment was taken to testing reflectivity of the material and testing the reflection angle and proving the brightness is directly affected by the distance travel (inverse square law of light). A prototype was built and consists all the different type of installation method and others meaningful features like energy saving system through solar panel and auto light system. Thus project has achieved the objectives.
