Abstract

The title of the final year project is "Anti Blind-spot System". The main objective of this project is to build an alert system which will turn on the LED indicator and buzzer automatically when there is obstacle of other vehicle at the vehicle's blind spot. When the driver wants to change lane while driving, the system will operate automatically by scan the blind-spot area to make sure is clear. If there is other vehicle on the blind-spot, the system will alert the driver but turn the LED indicator and buzzer on. There is 2 type of main hardware for this project which are Ping))) ultrasonic range finder and Sharp IR range finder. The main components for this project are Arduino Duemilanove, L 7805 voltage regulator, LEDs, buzzer and LCD screen. For the software part, the project programming code is done by Arduino IDE software. Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is a free software program which is developed by a computer company name Olivetti. The Arduino IDE is a cross- platform application written in Java, and is resulting from the IDE for the Processing programming language and the Wiring project. It is designed to introduce programming to artists and other newcomers unfamiliar with software development. It includes a code editor with features such as syntax highlighting, brace matching, and automatic indentation, and is also capable of compiling and uploading programs to the board with a single click.
