Abstract

The objective of this dissertation is providing about a study of the maintenance system in a manufacturing company. It's to provide a better understanding about the maintenance system process in a manufacturing environment. It covers review of literature and the generic steps of develop maintenance system process. It is to comprehend how to develop a maintenance system has to go through in the theoretically way by the general step and processes to implement the maintenance system in a company. Hence, the methodology need to achieve the thesis object is a case study. Sri Ledang has been selected. A case study was conducted on a manufacturing company. The company selected for study was Sri Ledang Snd Bhd. The case study was conducted their maintenance system of machine. The study was conducted by an in depth interviewing the maintenance manager to get an insight understanding on maintenance system in the manufacturing company. The company was applied routine maintenance in finger-joint machine, weinig moulder machine and rotary laminating machine. The routine maintenance is not successfully applied for the company. Preventive maintenance as propose for the company. The preventive maintenance checklist has been creating, with this implementation hopefully can help the company reduce the downtime and increase their production rate. Hence, total productive maintenance can be proposed because TPM is a general maintenance which is 5s and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
