Abstract

The main objective of this project is to design and fabricate a nursing bed to the paralysis patient or the old folks who unable to move their body normally. The main function of the nursing bed is the users are allowed to carry excretion with very minimum of help from others on the bed. In addition, the pneumatic systems are introduced into this project to automatize the functions of the nursing bed. In the beginning timeline of the project, the analysis problem statement and related research is done. After that, the nursing bed is designed. The design is sketched by the SolidWorks software with the assists of his project partner. The appropriate materials for prototype fabrication are sourced. All the materials and components selected in this prototype have to meet the specific requirement such as durability, cost and strength. The original design is changed due to some limitation. The structure of the bedstead is redesigned and fabricated. This prototype is consists three main pneumatic cylinder system which are lift system, slider system and up-down system. All three systems are controlled by buttons on the control panel. After combine the pneumatic system which designed by project partner with the mechanical part of prototype, performance of prototype is tested. In the end of project, the prototype is completed in time and functioned as expected.
