Abstract

The project is to fabricate a small size of horizontal axis wind turbine to reduce the problem of depleting natural resources. With the understanding of the wind turbine concept from doing all the literature review, we came out with a proper design of small size wind turbine. The study of this project related fluid mechanics and rotation mechanism. Research had been done from internet, library books and journals. The objective of this project is to design a small size wind turbine that suitable to install at house area. Our design concept is easily to install and dismantle and can be use in any places as long as the area have wind blow. The design of our wind turbine is to extract wind power from the wind that come from any direction. Once the wind turbine had been successfully fabricated, we combined the wind turbine and the power conversion system together. Once the whole prototype had been assembled, we started to test all the components function and the efficiency of this wind turbine. Several problems had been encountered when the fabricating and testing process but the problems had been successfully solved. At the end of this project, the wind turbine was built and tested. We had successfully achieved our objectives and the wind turbine was functioning well.
