Abstract

This final year project aims to develop and implement ISO standards to a manufacturing company in the commissioning and service process. Firstly, the ISO 9000 is studied to understand all the requirements needed to fulfil the ISO standard. The ISO 9001:2015 is focused to be implemented to the company. The next step is to conduct a data collection at the company to analyse current practice of the company. After that, gap analysis is conducted to identify the gap in between current practice of the company and the ISO 9001:2015 standard requirements. Based on the results of gap analysis, any inadequate documents for the company to fulfil requirement of ISO 9001:2015 standard are focused to be developed. The development of ISO documentation includes the development of commissioning and service process flow, rearrange or design of form and creation of ISO standard operation procedure. After the development of ISO 9001:2015 is conducted, the next stage is to implement the ISO 9001:2015 standards to Powertechnic Handling Equipment (M) Sdn Bhd. All the developed commissioning and service process flow, form and ISO standard operation procedure are sent to the company for pilot implementation which without affect operation of the company. After that, the results of pilot implementation is evaluated. Based on the feedback collected from the personnel of the company, the documentation revision process is carried out to make improvement on the documentation. The Commissioning and Service Process Flows provide a clearly defined of process flow which associated to the corresponding department. The designed forms provide adequate documentation to record all necessary significant information. The Nonconforming Service Report is able to decrease the rate of repetitive problem occurrence while the On-Site Safety Precaution Form is able to decrease the rate of accident happened as the hazards are clearly described in the form. With the implementation of ISO Standard Operation Procedures, they are able to identify the responsibility and authority which associated to every process and documentation. By referring to the ISO Standard Operation Procedures, the personnel will be able to understand and conduct their daily work in an efficient and repetitive manner. The gap analysis and findings show that there is a gap in between the current practice of Powertechnic Handling Equipment (M) Sdn Bhd and the requirement to meet ISO 9000 Standards. A wide variety of improvements in documentation and standard operation procedure are needed to be done in the process of service provision and control of nonconforming service. The other processes in the current practice of the company has been well-established, just a slight improvements in documentation and standard operation procedure are needed.
