Arduino connected together with ESP8266 Wi-Fi module are able to connect to the internet and perform wireless monitoring and control application by sending the sensor data to the database through PHP script, which in this project Firebase is used as the database. In addition to that, an Android application is developed to display the information of the car park slot in the App by retrieving the data from the Firebase. Registered user can also use this App to reserve their parking slot which will also be updated on the Firebase and sent to the Arduino hardware where a barrier will be raised to prevent other people from parking the reserve slot. Bluetooth module is add on to allow users nearby who have already booked a car park slot using the Android App to send the reserve car park slot data to the Arduino hardware to lower the barrier. If the user does not arrive in the given time limit, the barrier will be lowered and the car park slot will be open to other people to reserve or park. Overall the final prototype has a response time of around 2-4 seconds and also a success rate of sending the data to the internet ranging from 86-92%. While the android app which uses the Firebase function available can receive updated data almost instantaneously as the app will refresh every time there is an update in the Firebase project bucket used.
