Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop a system that will remind user when they leave their USB flash drive too far. In this project, user is given an android application. The android application can be used to monitor thumb drive installed with this system. The system are able to detect four conditions, which is user use the thumb drive normally, user remove the thumb drive normally, user shut down PC but forget to remove thumb drive, and user leave their thumb drive too far. the android application will remind user to retrieve their thumb drive if they left it behind. In this project, Arduino UNO is used as microprocessor to integrate all components. Bluetooth module is used to providing Bluetooth communication with android smartphone, while 3-Axis Digital Compass is used to detect whether user removed their thumb drive or not. As for software development part, Arduino IDE is used to write program for Arduino UNO, and Android Studio is used to develop android GUI for android smartphone to monitor connected thumb drive. In overall, this project is success and the system has been developed.
