The Project title is “Electric Utilization Monitoring and Usage Optimization with Mobile Application”. This is an application-based project which uses the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence technology to help user monitor and optimize their household energy usage with the aid of mobile application which mean this process are not restrict by distance. By real-time monitor the energy usage and historical data of appliances, user able to analysis their consumption and forecast utility fees in a better approach. This project utilizes current sensing and power factor measurement approach to capture the characteristic of appliances and teach machine to learn and classify it. The power measurement implements current and voltage transformer to obtain the phase shift and hall effect current sensors were used to capture the current flow. The combination of these two parameters contributes to the real power calculation. Experiment shows the results obtain from the system were very closed to reading obtained using professional equipment with an error not more than 15%. The following activities of the identified appliance will be recorded in the database. With a tolerance of 20% in classification, the system can recognize the appliances switch on and off with the error less than 10%. With the aid of mobile application, user can real-time monitor remotely, set monthly and daily usage limit, analysis, distribution of household energy usage and teach machine to learn new appliances which achieve the project objective of recognizing appliances, monitor energy usage and optimize utility bill.
