Abstract
Kidnapping cases are now frequently being mention in news all over the world. Parents are busy with their career and lack of time to take care of their children. Hence, child tracking system is being created to allow parents to know the location of their child. Traditional child tracking system in the market is using Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the child location. GPS doesn’t work inside a building such as shopping complex. A next generation of positioning technology had been created to beat the impediments of GPS. This project will create a prototype of indoor child tracking system using Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) using Arduino microcontroller with Wi-Fi shield to determine the location of child. A mobile application will be developed to display the tracking device location together with php web service and MySQL database that provide backend process for the entire system. The limitation and future improvement will be tracking device will be further discuss in the following chapter.
