Abstract

The project title is “Speech Recognition on Security System for Lab Access”. Today, human interactions with machines using devices like mouse and keyboards which depends much on hand movements. The speech recognition technology, allows interaction between human and machines through speech which is faster, easy and comfortable. This technology can be applied to many applications like industries manufacturing, smart home, and even flight information query. By using this technology, it is able to provide security for home and some commercial areas too. In this project, speech recognition technology is implemented to a door lock system. The door lock is designed to unlock when a correct password is spoken by the password holder. Wrong password spoken will not unlock the door. The password can be reset by the user through recording new password. This reset password function can be accessed only with a correct pin code. The pin code is by default at the beginning. To reset the pin code, the old pin code is needed. The security system can be implemented to college lab doors. In University College, lab only allows students and staffs who have the permission to enter. Sometimes the student who does not have permission enters the lab. This will cause many problems to occur like components go missing or equipment damages due to inappropriate used. The security of the lab access should be increased as to protect equipment and facilities inside the lab. This project is completed by using Arduino Uno as the microcontroller, Goldwave as the speech recorder tool, Visual studio and Arduino software as the programming tools. The Arduino is used to control the magnetic door lock to lock and unlock. Goldwave is the speech recorder tool to record speech from speakers for speech recognition test. Visual Studio is used to design and develop speech accuracy test and the security system with interface design. Arduino software is used to execute the command signal from Visual Studio.
