Abstract

With new technological advances, wireless control has become more popular in controlling operation. Some of the common wireless controlled technologies are Infrared (IR), Bluetooth, ZigBee and Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi). Each technology has its unique characteristic and it can also be categorized based on the distance it can support. ZigBee has been chosen as communication device in this project because it has the most suitable controlling area which is 30 meters for indoor and 100 meters for outdoor controlled. Nowadays the researchers strive hard to use human body such as, eye and gesture to perform wireless controlled. However, the control degree is still limited. Thus, a platform that involves more control degree such as body movement (posture) is developed in this project. Kinect sensor is used in this project to detect body movement to perform control through Natural User Interface (NUI). Then the algorithm is developed to identify postures of body movement captured by sensor to control the car direction. An Arduino has been used to interface with ZigBee receiver for the control operation. A prototype has been developed to perform human posture controlled wireless remote car. The motivation of doing this project is to give a guideline so that we can control a bipedal robot (humanoid robot) wirelessly like the robots in the Real Steel movie in the future.
