Abstract

This project is to propose an intelligence attendance management system based on the biometric feature. In this project, students’ attendances will be taken through their fingerprint. This saves up time and effort in comparison with manual attendance taking method. Firstly, the fingerprint images of the students are prior stored together with their profile details in the database inside a Universal Serial Bus (USB) mass storage device. An algorithm is then developed in mbed NXP LPC1768 microcontroller to match the taken biometric data with the database. A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) display and joystick in the mbed application board will be used as user interface with the microcontroller in the system. When students scan their fingerprints, the attendances of the students will be recorded. These recorded attendances will then be traced by management person.
