Abstract

This thesis presents an automated system that performs maintenance tasks in the fish tanks and recognizes the fish‟s diseases through camera. The project is separated into two parts, which are maintaining the fish tanks and monitoring fish health condition. This system is equipped with sensors to measure the water level and water's temperature. Besides, a servo motor uses as a fish feeding mechanism. The health of the fish will be monitor through a camera, the captured image will feedback to the system to perform fish disease recognition. The fish disease recognition system is only applicable for small and medium size fish such as goldfish. For the software implementation, fish disease recognition is implemented by using MATLAB with image processing toolbox. Computer vision toolbox is an advance toolbox for image processing. It can use to do image manipulations. The common use of this toolbox is do object detection, such as face detection and edge detection. The fish disease recognition are focused on some common fish disease, such as the white spot disease, and fin rot. This project not only can help people monitoring the water condition, but also save the fish‟s life from disease due to low water level and low temperature, such as white spot disease(Ich).
