Abstract

This project and dissertation is about a study on the environmental protection in Malaysia Construction Industry. The aim for this research is to implement some of the protection ways in construction industry. Literature review is constructed of all the objective which is to identify the cause affecting the environment in construction industry, to identify the effect to the environment and to identify the prevention method and pollution control in construction industry. In order to achieve the objective questionnaire and interview was conducted. 70 sets of questionnaire are distributed and total 41 (58%) sets are collected back. The target of the respondents for questionnaire is developers and contractors. There are three interviewee conducted the interview which is site engineer, architect and project executive. I was identified the causes which is lack control over the material use, the behavior of workers in processing of work, selection of material in construction site and lack management in prevent the pollution happened. The effect to the environment is air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution and waste pollution. The prevention method can be classified into four categories which are technology, management, planning and material. The purpose of conducted questionnaire and interview is to prove the theory in literature review is identical with the results or data obtained from the questionnaire and interview. As a conclusion, the government should put more effort and stringent in the legal related to the environment protection. Besides that, developers and contractors shall give highly corporation with the government in order to benefit and give a better life to the future generation. Finally, I hope that it can be a guideline to who wish to carry out the research on the environmental protection in Construction industry.
