Abstract

As far as we know, Building Management System (BMS) and Building Automation System (BAS) have come a long way since their introduction in the early 1980s. However, those intelligent systems function uniquely and independently without any integration. Consequently, Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) is introduced in order to increase its effectiveness and efficiency. Besides, this idea is also more adaptable to human needs, reliable and faster, especially for security and safety system within a building. Therefore, this project will address the application of IBMS in security and safety system for residential building. To undergo and have a better understand about this project, the concepts of IBMS are identified, which include its functions, advantages, disadvantages, and also the implementation to resolve the complication of this system. In short, IBMS provides facility manager with the ability to monitor, track, and respond automatically to the performance of all integrated systems, which can ensure that all systems able to function optimally. Hence, it is believed that IBMS not only can enhance the level of security and safety system for a residential building, but also fulfill and towards the goals of an Intelligent Building (IB).
