Abstract

Automated Parking System, a system which carried out the vehicles parking and retrieving tasks automatically through mechanical structure. The main component in the mechanical structure is the lifting mechanism which controlled by a computerised system. Automated parking system is normally installed in area where the land use is crucial such as commercial and residential. The trend in conventional parking system where driver seek for empty space is eliminated in automated parking system, whereby the vehicle is placed at the entrance point and the vehicle will be parked automatically to the parking location without involving the driver. Vehicles are needed for human transportation and thus the demand for vehicles increased. With the growing quantity of vehicles around the world from year to year, the space required to place the vehicles increased at the same time. When vehicles are not driven, parking spaces are needed to place the vehicles. The system brought the following benefits, driver friendly and security ensured parking system, environmental friendly and Space Optimisation and cost- effectiveness The scope for the project is to develop a functional Automated Parking System by using a microcontroller and computer to perform a controlling task in lifting mechanism and interface with user and operator. The software development will be implemented by using Visual Basic 2008, database design will be implemented using Microsoft Office Access 2007 and the firmware programming will be implemented using PICC C Language Compiler.
