Abstract
This study looks to identify the types of political propaganda used by Malaysian political coalitions prior to the 14th General Election. The study looks into the types of propaganda posted onto the coalitions’ official Facebook pages, be it black, white, or grey. To identify the types of political propaganda disseminated, the posts are analysed depending on the words used, facts portrayed, and the way the message is written. This study also looks to determine the effects of political propaganda on Facebook towards young voters between the ages of 21 to 40. The effects acknowledge includes liking, commenting, and sharing the propaganda posts by the respective political coalitions. In addition to the effects, the outcome of no response would also be taken into consideration. Reasons as to why this is so would then be explained using the social marketing theory. Outcomes which are unable to be explained using the social marketing theory would then be explained by taking consideration of differences in culture, fallacy of authority, attitudes, and group dynamics.
