Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the cost factor of green building in Malaysia. In order to serve this purpose, a total of 180 survey questionnaire is being distributed to various professional in the Klang Valley. The sample is 56 various professional including quantity surveyor, main contractor and so on. The data obtained from the responses will be analysed using Statistic Package for Social Science (SPSS) statistical software. By using tools and function in SPSS, a result is able to be obtained. There are four main challenges of cost factor of green building in the Malaysian Construction Industry which are lack of professionals, technical aspect, expenses of green technology and particular requirements. Each of these main challenges has core reasons and are being ranked according to mean. The same method is being applied to the ways to improve the cost factor of green building in the Malaysian Construction Industry. The overall findings from this study is to look in depth on the causes of cost factor in green building and find the most significant way to improve it.
