Abstract

Development of technology often has adverse effects on the environment. Therefore, these issues will be mitigated with the promotion of Green Technology building. Although Green Technology buildings provide a wide range of benefits for the society, green building development suffers from different kinds of market barriers in developing countries including Malaysia. In order to encourage Green Technology building in Malaysia, this research aims to identify the challenges faced by contractor when adopting Green Technology building in Malaysian construction and to explore the benefits of implementing Green Technology building in Malaysia. Therefore, through the questionnaire survey method consists of series of questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information such as the respondent background, challenges in adopting green technology and the benefits in implementing green technology. Thus, in this research the respondents are Contractor selected from the Malaysian Construction Industry in Malaysia. There are about 50 copies questionnaires are distribute to target respondents who are involved in green building construction or design. A descriptive analysis was used in this research such as the frequency distribution can describe a single variable which suitable for objective 1 and 2. The information obtained from data analysis will help to identify the actual situation about understanding level of respondents to the Green Technology implementation in order to achieve green building in Malaysia.
