Abstract

This research looks into different cultural background influences on online media content which focuses on Malaysian youths’ perception towards Malaysia's alcohol-related online news. The research has conducted a survey on 130 respondents, mainly youths from age 18 years old to 26 years old from different states in Malaysia through purposive sample. The findings obtained showed religion is a main factor in shaping the youth’s perception towards alcohol-related online news. Furthermore, it is revealed that other non-cultural factors such as personal preference and individual upbringing also play a part in influencing their perception. Although Malaysia is a multiracial country where people have different perception, the respondents in this study still do agree that everyone shall respect and tolerate each other.
