Abstract

This whole project is to study on the banned films in Malaysia as well as the acceptance and rationales. Most of the time, in the audience aspect, they will get confused when there is censorship of films showed on screen. The reason why is due to they might can’t fully understand what the filmmaker trying to say or trying to send out to the audience as some of the film censorship might be censoring the vital content of the whole film in a way to cause such incident. In the country like Malaysia, when a film gets banned, most of the audiences will thinks it might because of the issues of religious and racial. In facts, a banned film is not due to the religious problem but can caused by many aspects such as criminal, sexual, violent and etc. On the other hand, this project is not only focus on the society and public but also will focus the issues of banned film and refer back to the filmmaker and media side due to it have to be balance as not only get the information from one side but both side to judge whether the film censorship should be accept or not. As the results that collected from the survey questionnaires, there are more people thinks that the film censorship should be banish while the in-debt interview with the profession, it shows the oppose opinion. Therefore, the results reached the objectives of study that show the acceptance of peoples towards film censorship and the reason why the film censorship existed in the field of media.
