Abstract

The project is to study on Malaysia’s YouTube viewer’s interest and the factors of successful YouTube channel within Klang Valley. There are a lot different genres, types and styles of YouTube videos that allows the audience to choose between which is their favourite. Some of the content on YouTube are not being filter and thus it will consist of certain inappropriate scene which would be learned by those who are still not mature enough to determine what is right or wrong. Therefore, this project is to find out YouTube viewer’s interest on what kind of content is the viewer’s favourite. Other than that, the project also aimed to find out the factors of a successful YouTube channel where why and how a particular YouTube channel will be successful. Thereupon, both quantitative and qualitative method which is online survey questionnaire and in-depth interview will be used to conduct this research. There were 100 millennials respondents conducted for online survey questionnaire and 2 experienced working adult respondents from the media industry conducted for in-depth interview. The result of the survey and interview conducted showed that the respondents not watching YouTube for inappropriate scenes instead of personal interest, and a successful YouTube channel need to have good video quality and the practice of humanistic values.
