Abstract

This study was carried out to study and determine the best method that can be used in the nutrient bioavailability (NPK) analysis of oil palm organic fertilizer. Total nitrogen content of the organic fertilizers was determined using Kjeldahl method. Total phosphorus and potassium content of the organic fertilizers were compared between standard addition method and external standard method, and determined using Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (MP-AES). Using the acid concentration effect, element effect and matrix effect as the parameters to validate the external standard method, external standard method is concluded to be not suitable in the NPK analysis of the fertilizer.
