Abstract
Iron(III) and Aluminum(III) salts are used to coat on the surface of Activated Carbon. The saturation efficiency of Fe(III) ions on Activated Carbon is 74.43% and for Al(III) ions on Activated Carbon is 45.80%. The results were analyzed by Hydride Generation Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (HG MP-AES), which is purchased from Agilent Technologies. The optimum pH for A.C./Fe(III) to remove As(III) in water is pH9, and for A.C./Al(III) is pH 3. The highest removal efficiency of 1 ppm of As(III) in water by using A.C./Fe(III) is 98.18% and for A.C./Al(III) is 97.82%. It could be concluded that A.C./Fe(III) is suitable for basic condition and A.C./Al(III) is suitable for acidic condition.
