Abstract
It is said that urban low-cost resident are living in ‘life and health threatening homes and neighbourhoods’ because of the poor living conditions as a result of improper facilities and maintenance services. Residents’ satisfaction is significant as it contributes to a person’s psychological well-being and quality of life. The satisfaction level of residents is greatly influenced by the quality of facilities and maintenance services provided as proven by various studies. Hence, it is necessary to assess the problems and issues as well as satisfaction level of the low-income group living in low-cost high-rise units provided by both the government and private sector. Initially, literature review provides a description, summary, and critical evaluation of these works in relation to the research objectives being investigated. Following, the approach in data collection is described in research methodology. The medium used to collect data from the residents of PPR Kg. Baru Air Panas and Danau Kota Flat is questionnaire surveys and analysed using SPSS software. Additionally, an exit test conducted will strengthen the result collected from the main questionnaire and evaluated using Microsoft Excel. In the final chapter, the findings are further discussed and the understanding are applied to formulate recommendations which outlines the framework where both the government and private sector can focus on in order to counteract the problems and issues and to improve the satisfaction level of residents in low-cost high-rise housing schemes.
