Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness among RTG, STG, and RSTG on sagittal head tilt angle, cervical angle, cervical range of motion, and neck pain to improve FHP. The training program was adapted from the study “The Effects of Training and Detraining After an 8 Month Resistance and Stretching Training Program on Forward Head and Protracted Shoulder Postures in Adolescents: Randomised Controlled Study”Ruivo et al. (2016). There were a total of 33 subjects aged 18 to 25 years. The subjects were the divided into RTG (n = 10), STG (n = 12), and RSTG (n = 11) and was randomly assigned using the systematic counter-balancing method and fishbowl method based on the pre-test results. All three groups have gone through a 4-week intervention programme. Training for all groups were twice a week with a bout 30 minutes per session. The participants were tested on sagittal head tilt angle, cervical angle, cervical range of motion (flexion, extension, left and right side flexion) and neck pain. Data analysis showed that there were no significantdifferences (p > 0.05) in sagittal head tilt angle, cervical angle, cervical range of motion (flexion, extension, left and right side flexion) and neck pain among all three groups. This proved that all groups were equally effective in improving FHP.
