Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of6-week core training programmeon the postural stability and body composition among male sedentary college students. A total of 30 male sedentary college students (age=20.7±1.18, weight=65.30kg±8.87, height =171.60cm±6.20) took part in this study and were divided into Swiss ball training group (n=10), conventional core training group (n=10) and control group (n=10). The subjects were tested on postural stability test and Inbody test which consistedof skeletal muscle mass, fat mass and trunk fat mass. Data analysis showed that there was significant improve between pre-post of postural stability test and skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass and trunk fat mass in both Swiss ball training group (p=0.00; p=0.03; p=0.01; p=0.05).There were significant improvement reported for postural stability test, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass and trunk fat mass inconventional core training group (p=0.03; p=0.01; p=0.00, p=0.00). Besidesthat, there wasno significant different in post-test of postural stability test (p=0.11) and skeletal muscle mass (p=0.06), body fat mass (p=0.79) and trunk fat mass test (p=0.63) between three groups. This showed that both core trainingprogramme improved postural stability, gained skeletal muscle mass, reduced body fat and trunk fatin sedentary male students
