Abstract

The main objective of this study was to examine the correlation between academic integration and social integration, examine the correlation between academic integration and institution commitment, and examine the correlation between social integration and institution commitment. The findings were based on data collected from 134 college students from a private university in Kuala Lumpur. Students’ Academic Integration Scale (Mannan, 2001), Students’ Social Integration Scale (Mannan, 2001), and College Persistence Questionnaire (Davidson, Beck, & Milligan, 2009) were used to measure academic integration, social integration, and institution commitment. Results revealed that (1) there was significant positive correlation between academic integration and social integration, (2) there was significant positive correlation between academic integration and institution commitment, and (3) there was significant positive correlation between social integration and institution commitment. The study concluded that higher college student’s academic integration and social integration resulted in higher institution commitment.
