Abstract
Balance is the ability of the individual to maintain an upright position against the force of gravity. This study was to compare the effect of Biodex Balance System Training vs BOSU ball balance training among college students. 36 (n = 36) subjects were randomly assigned into Biodex training group (n = 12), BOSU training group (n = 12) and control group (n= 12) using the fishbowl method and undergone their respective intervention for 5 weeks. The training was conducted twice a week on non-consecutive days. Subjects were tested on standing stork test and four square step test to observe the changes in static balance and dynamic balance. Results showed significant improvements in static balance and dynamic balance in both training groups (p < 0.05). A significant difference was seen in non-dominant standing stork test and four step square test in the control group (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the dominant leg standing stork test in the control group (p > 0.05). In summary, 5 weeks of Biodex balance training and BOSU ball training can be beneficial for college student to improve static and dynamic balance.
