Abstract
Microgrid is a low voltage power network that is used to interface various power sources which include different kind of renewable energy resources such as wind turbines, photovoltaic solar cell or energy storage devices such as batteries to various kind of outputs which can include commercial loads or industry loads. It is also the middle point of connection between power utility grid to end users. In this project, a microgrid system is designed together with the integration of a solar renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS). The microgrid’s design procedure and steps is elaborated in a detail manner. Besides, a simulation will be carried out to compare cost of electricity usage and microgrid power performance between a manual setting microgrid system and an optimized microgrid system.
