Abstract

The current construction industry play significant roles in strengthening the growth of nations. However up to current the safety issues in Malaysia construction industry is still very serious. Reports on accidents on construction sites are not uncommon and these accidents are widely reported in news media. The proposed research objective in this study are 1) to identify the relationship among human factors that contribute to accidents on construction and 2) to review the safety measure in construction industry. The human factors discuss in this study is attitudes towards safety, management commitment, lack of training, incentive and communication while the safety measure explained are green card, personal protective equipment, safety and health training as well as safety and health policy. There are total 45 out of 100 numbers of questionnaire collected from the construction project and construction companies that are located in Kuala Lumpur. The techniques for data analysis proposed in this study is correlation analysis for first research objective and descriptive analysis for second research objective. Results from correlation revealed that attitude is significant with management, while training is significant associated with attitude & management, and communication is significantly associated with attitude, management & training. Descriptive analysis had showed that majority of the respondent from the survey had agree on the fact that these safety measure had their own related problem in the industry and also they agree that the safety measure constitute a critical part in improving the safety and health performance of the construction site.
