Abstract

This project had synthesis a conductive hydrogel synthesis by using Polyacrylamide(PAM) incorporate with Polyaniline(PANI) in emeraldine base which is the most stable form and Graphene nanoparticles. Besides, N,N’-Methylenebis(acrylamide) used as crosslinker, ammonium persulfate(APS) as initiator and HCL(37%) as doping medium. The synthesis method was modified from free radical polymerization method and interfacial polymerization method. The image scanning electron microscope of pure hydrogel shows a smaller pore size compare to hydrogel with graphene. The conductivity of hydrogel had increase from 2.796 x 10-6 Scm-1 to 4.00 x 10-5 Scm-1 ,3.512 x 10-5 Scm-1 and 3.941 x 10-5 Scm-1 after incorporating with graphene and polyaniline. Besides, the result shows that graphene reduce the crosslinking thus reduce the young’s modulus but it could enhance the swelling ratio of hydrogel. But, aniline crosslink to polyaniline increase the crosslinking and causes the young’s modulus to increase but reduce the swelling ratio.
