Abstract
The study outlines the social media impact on young women’s body image. Young women tend to feel self-conscious about the body image and the increasing in usage of social media has become a big factor that contributes to young women’s perception on body image. Over the years of the advancement of technology, young women’s view on body image has also gradually evolved. In the past where body image is always linked to the thin-ideal figure, there are a plenty of different types of body figures that people look for such as curvy and fit. This research aims to study the social media influences and impacts on young women’s body image. 100 young women will be participating in this research whereby the research questions will be segregated randomly. The Social Comparison Theory and also the Self-Discrepancy Theory will be used in this research to study on this topic further. This study will help to determine the influences and impacts of social media among young women.
