Abstract

This research studied on the issue of how homosexual group perceive about their portrayal in Boys’ love themed mini web series “Right or Wrong”. The aim of the research is to determine how the nature of representation in “Right or Wrong” converse with homosexual group perception and to find out the interaction with “Right or Wrong” affect homosexual group’s perception about their portrayal. In this research, there are some studies and research method have been done based on some reliable sources including referring to some scholars work and conducting an in-depth interview as to get a perfect research result. The interview was conducted to collect data on how homosexual group interact with the characters in the mini web series and also how they perceive about their portrayal in the mini web series and mainstream media. Then, the theories of Clark’s Four Stages of Minority Representation and parasocial theory will be used to analyze the data. Therefore, the result of the research indicated the homosexual group were able to interact with the characters in the mini web series and they perceived it portrayed homosexuals in a positive way and its portrayal stay neutral. It truly shows the homosexual community is normal as heterosexual community. Respondents have a positive perception towards gay men after they watched the drama. I hope that this conducted research can give a uses in a way of consultation for a further information to the future researcher which their studies task is related with issue of homosexuals.
