Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the innovation of streaming TV. The study looks into the influence of the innovation of streaming TV to the society and television industry. The new era of TV-watching behavior and the advantages that streaming TV provided to the people is discussed as well. Furthermore, this study also looks to analyze how streaming TV has dominated the television industry. The impact acknowledged includes the change of the nature of TV and the change of how TV stations operate now. There are various factors and reasons that caused streaming TV to dominate the television industry in today’s age. Moreover, this research also aimed to study the probability of streaming TV continuing to dominate the television industry. The probability of streaming TV continuing to dominate the television industry was analyzed and explained using the Diffusion of Innovation Theory. The significance of this particular theory is able to describe the adopters, identify diffusion channels and make predictions. The research methodology used to conduct this study is qualitative research method, which is intensive interview with three media experts. The findings showed that the innovation of streaming TV brought huge influence to the people nowadays, and changed the business model of TV stations as well. In addition, the findings also proved that the probability of streaming TV continuing to dominate the television industry is high and it might be very difficult for traditional TV to compete with streaming TV in the future.
