Abstract

Nowadays, people still utilizing the legacy panic button equipment for requesting help, which is an inefficient and ineffective solution. New services, devices, apps and technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT) are being introduced at a feverish pace. Therefore, TARUC Motility Shield is introduced to provide a platform to supersede this legacy technology. The concept of this system is referenced from a GuardNet security application. This application is a common system that use in education, international industry, and government sectors in Europe countries like United Kingdom. TARUC Motility Shield system has included 2 platform which is mobile Apps platform and dashboard platform in order to work as a complete system. The mobile Apps is served as the mobile panic button device and communication device between requester and security guard. While the dashboard system is served as a centre device that used by the security admin for management, and provide assistances for both requester and security guard in order to solve the problem. The mobile apps platform allows the requester to request help and the security guard can handle the request. After that, the dashboard system is a platform for showing all relevant information of the request, assigning security guard and generate reports. The methodology used for this system is waterfall model which allow the developing team to clearly understand the functional requirement and the overview design of the system. The technology MQTT protocol is used as a mediator to handler the incoming network packet traffic from the device, server and dashboard system. Besides, the system has gone through the unit testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing to evaluate the reliability, availability and performance of the system. However, the communication module is still under development. Therefore, the security admin requires using other communication tools to communicate with the security guard.
