Abstract

The purpose of the research is to examine the effects of concurrent endurance and plyometric training sequence on leg power and leg strength among college volleyball players. A total of 35 subjects age 20.34 (SD = 1.80), weight 67.14 (SD = 8.55), height 175.09 (SD = 5.61) and years of experience 6.46 (SD = 3.22) participated in this study. The design of the study is a true experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The subjects were assigned into 3 groups (Control group = 12, Plyometric-endurance group (PEG) = 12 and Endurance-plyometric group (EPG) = 11) after the pre-test of leg power and leg strength. The intervention lasted for six weeks, subject’s leg power and leg strength were measure during post-test. Inferential statistics revealed that there was significant difference in leg power among groups, however there was no significant difference in leg strength at p < .05 condition. Significant improvement in the pre-post leg power means scores was observed in PEG (p = .001 and EPG (p = .001) Significant improvement in the pre-post leg strength was also found in PEG (p= .002) and EPG (p = .001). Results showed that there is no significant in concurrent training sequence used. Therefore, both sequence of concurrent training produces positive improvement in leg power and leg strength.
