Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the acute response of transdermal magnesium on leg isokinetic strength among taekwondo players. 15 male taekwondo players were recruited from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Taekwondo Club in this study with 2 double-blind experimental trials which included Transdermal Magnesium Footbath and Placebo Warm Water Footbath for 30 minutes. Each trial was separated at least 7 days apart for the washout of the magnesium chloride substance in the body. PLC condition showed significant difference in HGB level by comparing before and after footbath (p=0.017). In conclusion, the acute response of transdermal magnesium footbath showed no improvements on leg isokinetic strength with no significant difference between MG condition and PLC condition
