Abstract

The aim of this study is to compared and determine the effects of six weeks of Visuo-Motor Behavior Rehearsal (VMBR) and imagery training on accuracy and success rate of kicking on taekwondo reverse swing kick among taekwondo athletes. A total of 36 male subjects (n=36), age ranged from 13 to 17 years from Taekwonmas Academy took part in this study and were divided into three different groups, control group (n=12), VMBR group (n=12) and imagery group (n=12). All groups undergo six weeks of taekwondo physical training however VMBR and imagery group undergo psychological training as intervention while control group did not undergo any psychological training during the six weeks period. Training were conducted two times per week with 20 minutes per sessions for intervention groups. The subjects were tested on accuracy and total registered kicks using KP&P Protector Scoring System (reliability = .884). Data analysis shows a significant improvement in registered kicks in VMBR (p= 0.024) mean scores for pre and post-test in experimental group. However, there is no significant differences in taekwondo reverse swing kick in accuracy and success kicks mean scores for the pre and post-test between the experimental groups and control group
