In this quality era, the construction industry is repeatedly criticised of being inefficient. Thus, the main aim of this research is to determine the key performance indicator based on international journal. Besides that, this study aims to determine what are the key performance of Malaysia project. Moreover, it investigate how to improve the performance of Malaysia project. At the beginning, the literature review gives a summary of different types of key performance indicator based on international journal. And point up the key performance of Malaysia project. Based on the literature review stated, a questionnaire survey is constructed, and quantitative research is adopted for this study due to less time consuming. The questionnaire prepared is then distributed to Grade 6 and Grade 7 contractors within Klang Valley area in Malaysia. There were 81 respondents from Grade 6 and Grade 7 responded to the questionnaire survey. The data collected is then analysed using Excel Statistics in order to achieve the objectives. Both descriptive analysis and inferential analysis is used to analyse the result from the questionnaire survey. The results obtained provide a big picture on the key performance indicator for construction project and also how to improve the performance of Malaysia project. Based on the results obtained, quality, time and cost are the three factors that play the most important roles in planning and controlling of construction projects. The project success is reflects by quality outputs, standard, planning time and budget objectives. The contractors are involved in this study to validate the research approach. It provides in key performance indicator (KPI) which can be valuate and measure potential contractors as well as their capacity by requesting these indices. This finding can help construction firms to learn from the best practices of other and carry out continuous improvement. Thus, this research acts as a useful reference not only to industry players but also parties who cares about the quality of the project.
