Abstract
In this 21st century, the development of technology in construction industry has been improved prospectively by implementation of new technologies such as drone, Additive Manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing, BIM software, Contour Crafting (CC) technology, Autodesk software and other new technology. 3D printing is one of the popular new technologies that adopted in many fields such as medical, manufacturing and construction, architectural and more. Recent years, the potential of 3D printing had been explored which can brings a lot of benefits to construction industry in terms of increased customization, reduced construction time, reduce manpower, construction cost, manufacture large scale of building and decrease of supply chain in 3D printing. However, the construction industry of Malaysia still facing the lacking of adoption of 3D printing. These challenges are including the limitations of materials, troubleshooting of the 3D printers and materials and equipment are costly. Besides, the lack of skills and knowledge on 3D printing among the employers, contractors and workers are also become the restraints of adopting of this technology. Hence, through this research study, questionnaire survey has been distributed to developers, contractors and professional consultants to collect their opinions on the lack of adoption of 3D printing in Malaysia construction industry. Then, a descriptive analysis is applied to analyse all the collected data by estimating the mean, median and mode.
