Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been introduced to the construction industry of Malaysia for more than a decade. However, the adoption rate of BIM is still low in Malaysia. Merely 10 percent of the quantity surveying firms are adopting BIM. There are a lot of obstacles that hinder the implementation of BIM in quantity surveying practice. On the other hand, the implementation of BIM can bring a lot of opportunities to the quantity surveying industry. This paper presents a research study on the challenges and opportunities for quantity surveyors (QS) to catching up with BIM. The objectives to carry out this research is to determine the capability of BIM, the challenges and opportunities for implementing BIM in quantity surveying practice. In addition, the respondents are asked their opinions about the effective ways to promoting BIM in Malaysia. Moreover, this study tend to be examining the objectives mentioned earlier from the perspective of consultant QS. The feedback of the respondents are collected from consultant QS by using questionnaire survey. Statistical Package Social Science (SPSS) software is used to analyse the collected data in order to achieve the aforesaid objectives.
