Abstract

Electronic tendering system is one of the new technology tools that have been highlighted by the construction industry. This system will assist in changing the industry’s culture and improve the tendering process. It can provide efficiency saving in terms of cost and time, improved the speed of communication during the tendering process, environmental friendly due to the paperless process and a better transparency of the tendering process. Besides that, this system also had some disadvantages which cannot to secure the quality of successful tenderer since this system will automatically select a lowest bidding tenderer. Moreover, it is more complicated when compared to the traditional tendering system, therefore the onboarding problem will appear. Furthermore, there have 3 objectives which need to achieve through this research, the objectives in this research are to identify the pros and cons of the e-tendering system, to investigate the challenges facing when implement the e-tendering system and to determine the effective ways to enhance the interest level of construction parties to adopting the e-tendering system. To achieve the objectives of the research, the literature review and a questionnaire survey was carried out and analyse the collected data. The data was analysed by using Microsoft Excel and findings for the 3 objectives has been discovered. Therefore, based on the findings, it will enhance the awareness level of the construction parties of adoption e-tendering system.
