Abstract

With modern technology development, watching or steaming a video can be much faster and can better quality video. Most of the video in now modern day to support video compression is using the AVC/H.264. High Efficiency Video Coding Application is the latest video compression that will compress video files to half the size possible using the most-efficient current encoding format. In today world, there are not many devices and application are having the hardware support of High Efficiency Video Coding Application also known and HEVC or x265. Most of the computer most probably can decode h265 software but the problem come by is capable of handling the h.265 and a file encoded it. This research is set to examine to find out whether that modern devices such as smartphone with the current technology will be able to support HEVC or x265. By using HARP (Springer, 2014) as a guidelines, this may help to progress in term of developing the HEVC player much more efficiently. It also aims to found out that which latest android devices will have the capabilities to support this latest video compression which is HEVC depending the hardware they can support. One of the greatest benefits using x265 or HEVC is that offers roughly double the compression ratio for the same quality (Sullivan, 2012). This means that a video file encoded with HEVC can occupy half the space of its H.264 equivalent with no noticeable change in quality, or the same amount of space with improved quality (Sullivan, 2012).
