Abstract

Urban renewal can be defined as redevelop, rehabilitate or an improving process for an urban area or its neighborhood where consist of vast range of activities including rebuilding new project or buildings up-to-date, dismantling running-down or old project or building, or adding in some new feature or structure to existing project. Three main objectives was derived from this dissertation which are to clarify the concept of urban renewal, to identify the benefits and challenges faced in the implementation of urban renewal, and to justify the solution in resolving the matter arise. By the end of this dissertation, people’s awareness towards the significant of urban renewal will be established. By supporting the dissertation, literature review, quantitative and qualitative techniques have been applied as research methodology in this study. The research findings recommend the alertness towards implementation of urban renewal shall be strengthen and discharge to both property developers and citizens. In other words, good communication and being transparency are two most significant elements that able to convince the public to accept redevelopment implementation. To conclude, decaying urban areas will transform to more organize and decent urban environment which will subsequently increase the population to the city and hence leads to economy prosperity.
