Abstract

In Malaysia, the construction industry are highly dependence on the labour to complete the construction project. However, the labour productivity in Malaysia were considered low. Therefore, the objectives of this research was to study for the factors which affecting the labour productivity at construction site in Malaysia. Besides, the purpose of this research also included the identification of the impacts of the low labour productivity occurred at construction site and find the ways to solve the problems. The literature review is to carry out the objectives of this research by determined the factors, impacts and the ways to solve the low labour productivity at construction site in Malaysia. In order to achieve the aim and objectives of the study, the survey is conducted in the form of questionnaire. The respondents which targeted by the researcher are project manager, site supervisor, architect and engineer who having experience in the labour productivity at construction site in building construction industry. The questionnaire survey has been distributed to 120 respondents. After the collected and analysed the data, the result shown that lack of working experience is the most biggest factor which affecting the labour productivity at construction site in Malaysia building construction industry. However, contractor will be fined liquidated damages is the biggest impact of low labour productivity. Whereas the most effective way to solve low labour productivity problem which provided by the respondents is provide skill training.
