Abstract

A construction projects always involves conflicts between involved parties especially developers and contractors. This problem is still remaining inveterate in construction industry and results serious impact to the project and also the related parties. Hence, this research seeks to discover the internal conflicts in construction industry between developers and contractors which are contractual and behaviour problem. Likewise, this study is covered on identifying the effects to construction industry if there is a conflicts happened. The ways to minimise the construction conflicts are identified. This research question was answered by 73 construction parties which are developers and contractors in the method of questionnaire surveys. The survey indicates the factors of the construction conflicts by the contracting parties. However, the consequences of the construction conflicts also will be identified. The consequences that will arise are disputes in the construction and overrun of time and cost. The detailed construction project plan, understanding culture and perfect in contract term will be the ways to minimise the construction conflicts. Lastly, this research is studying on the internal conflicts in construction industry between developers and contractors which are contractual and behaviour problem so that the construction parties especially developers and contractors will aware about this issue and prevent the serious impact on the project and achieve the project goals perfectly.
